Confessions

The Sacrament of Penance, also known as Reconciliation or Confession is celebrated on Saturdays after the 8:30 AM Mass (except the first Saturday of the Month) and also on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. There are usually friar-priests who can hear your confession in English, Spanish and Polish. Some friars can also minister to you in French and Italian.

Confessions are also available by making an appointment by calling the parish office: 718.384.0215 or clicking on the button below.

The friars are also usually around the parish office during office hours. Feel free to just drop by for Confession. While there’s no guarantee that someone will be available, if we are here, we will be happy to assist you

Does Your Last Confession Date Back to a Previous Hairstyle?

Has it been a while since your last Confession? Maybe not since your First Confession? Don’t worry! Welcome back. What matters is that you are preparing to return. Here are a few things to remember as you consider going to Confession again:

  • It’s Not About You: The Sacrament of Penance focuses on God’s Mercy and Love for you. It’s an act of worship where we honestly acknowledge our need for God in our lives.

  • Reflect and Confess: Do your best to reflect and confess all your sins, especially those that weigh heavily on your conscience. You might find this guide helpful: Examinations of Conscience.

  • It’s Not an IRS Audit: God is not out to get you. Quite the opposite—God is on your side, cheering you on, looking for any sign of repentance to forgive you and fill you with peace and healing.

  • Don’t Worry About the Details: If you don’t remember the prayers or the proper order of the sacrament, just ask the priest for help. We are so happy you’re going to Confession and will do whatever it takes to make it smooth for you.

  • Confidentiality is Guaranteed: Confessions are private and confidential. The priest cannot reveal any information to anyone, under any circumstances. The “seal of confession” is absolute.
